How clear is your vision?
Let me give you some history behind this question because it fascinates me. In my 20+years of working with people I have found that an overwhelming majority cannot answer the simple question of ...
What do you want?
The responses I hear vary from :
Judgments about what they want from themselves or others
Why they can’t have what they want
What people around them (spouse, boss, family, etc) want of them
Hazy clips of dreams that they feel are impossible or in the far distance
Jumbled descriptions of values, feelings and material items that feel disconnected to a path
Actually, if I just listen some people will talk at length without really landing on anything specifically.
I say this not to criticize or to judge but to marvel at the oddity of it. I certainly know that I would have responded the same way if asked during many times in my own life.
How strange that we are creators by nature and yet we can be unclear on we are creating?
I have been asking myself why that is for many years? Then it hit me, it doesn’t really matter why. We as humans are often walking contradictions but that does not stop us from being able to learn and expand in an instant. And now is an opportune time to do just that!
The pivotal first step in the creative process is to know what you want. Our desires are the golden thread that help identify the aspects of our vision. They also give us real time navigation tips as to when and how to act in alignment with them.
Genius tip #1: I have learned is that you only have to go as specific in your vision as you can energetically feel it. Once it moves from heart to head then pause. Leave the rest for delightful surprise and unfolding as you follow your desire thread.
If we make our vision too detailed and “heady” we tend to shift from an abundant mindset (anything is possible and I am open) to a fixed mindset (this is the only way, its all on me) and remember when we are operating from Genius creator mode, there are so many ways that we could never know them all!
Genius tip #2 on crafting your vision is to pay attention how you feel about it. Visions that feel inspiring, joyful and elicit other positive emotions are like magnets. These will attract the people, experiences, opportunities and your next leading edge desires without you even lifting a finger.
If your vision causes you to feel lack, disempowerment or an array of negative emotions this is a sign that some outdated or misaligned beliefs and fears are blocking you from your desires. That’s ok, now you know where you need some belief upgrades and clean up.
Often we speed into action without really understanding where we want to go and ensuring we are energetically behind it first. Emotions are that energy in motion, so we don’t want to speed up the misaligned energy!
So, my question to you is...can you answer with pristine clarity, excitement, passion, and wonder:
What do you want?
Can you see it? Can you feel it? Can you smell it? Can you taste it? The more texture the better!
Not every last detail but enough that if it were to start unfolding you would say..hey that is my dream unfolding!! If this is a sticky place for you, then come to my upcoming workshop “Lead with Desire” and learn the foundations of Genius creator mode! Now, let’s get to creating!
